The topic of ornamentation and its evolving approaches across the centuries has always been a compelling subject for discussion. In light of this, the YPM Music School organized an internal seminar on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at YPM Manggarai. Led by SM YPM’s director, Ibu Aisha Sudiarso Pletscher, the seminar focused on both conceptual understanding and practical techniques, exploring the dos and don’ts as well as the rationale behind ornamental practices from the Baroque period to the modern era.
Initially scheduled as a two-hour program starting at 14:30, the seminar extended into a highly engaging and comprehensive five-hour session. Attendees —teachers from various instrumental disciplines within the YPM Music School— left with renewed inspiration and a deeper understanding of the ever-present subject of ornamentation, gaining valuable insights into its historical development and contemporary application.
